Decoration tips for pet owners

Dicas de decoração para quem tem pets

I already talked a lot about creating nooks and crannies for your dog or kitten but now I saw that I still haven’t given decoration tips for those who have pets. How to make the house nice and safe for your pet? How to make it difficult for him to ruin your sofa, your curtain? How to facilitate the cleaning of the house having a pet? So, here are some tips to help you:

Decoration tips for pet owners

Sofas. armchairs and furniture

Prefer the acquablock or water block (mainly for cats), suede, ultrasuede, canvas, grosgrain and twill (denim). Do not use chenille, linen, silk or velvet with cats at all. These will be destroyed very quickly. Waterproofing is also highly recommended, in addition to the use of closed woven covers, which in addition to protecting the lining are easier to wash and change.

If you have dogs, another option is natural or synthetic leather, which can be cleaned more easily. Cats can scratch it more easily.

Cats like to hide by hiding in the strangest and most impossible places. So be careful with sofas with retractable parts. Will you push the chase and the bug is inside?

Another concern is the feet of furniture – Wooden feet can be easily chewed by kittens. Prefer metal feet or use rubber protectors. And forget about rattan or rattan furniture.

Place cat scratchers near sofas and armchairs – so they will have a more interesting option than your sofa.

Carpets

Prefer rugs with short hair, synthetic material (polypropylene) or sisal. Whether printed or in a color similar to the color of your pussy, they will hide hair better.

Curtains, blinds, walls and wallpaper

Prefer synthetic fabrics or mixtures of naturals, such as cotton and linen, with synthetics, which have greater durability and are easy to wash. Prefer closed plots with cats. Waterproofing is also a good idea. Avoid silk and voal. Vertical and horizontal blinds are less suitable when you have cats, especially small ones.

White walls can suffer (use washable paints or take advantage of the fashion of half-wall painting and put a darker color at the bottom). As well as textured walls, which accumulate dust (and hair). Wallpaper with textures or fragile material will not support your cat’s nails (or your dog’s paws). In fact, most of them will not resist unscathed.

Create fun and space for them

If your cat or dog has to have fun he will put his furniture aside. So, invest in firm scratchers and all kinds of toys you find in reliable petshops. To save yourself, you can make toys and beds for them. A roll of sisal around a wood is fun. A cardboard box also.

Leave empty shelves to allow cats to play on them (you can place shelves just for them to play). And don’t forget to trim their nails whenever you notice they’re big.

Everyone needs “their space” in the house. Your pet too! Then, the bed, the toys, and maybe, the containers with water and feed, if possible, can be in the same little place.

Comfortable floors

Cats and dogs suffer from slippery or very smooth floors. They may find it difficult to stay stabilized and this ends up causing physical problems. Prefer wooden floors that are not very smooth, satin porcelain or vinyl (which give more stability and are difficult to scratch) in the internal and external area, prefer natural stones, non-slip floors, ABS and natural grass (always well trimmed and treated).

Laminates, marble, granite or any smooth stone, and shiny and very smooth porcelain tiles are more slippery, in addition to being more easily scratched and stained (with the eventual urine of pets). If you cannot change a slippery floor, use or distribute small rugs, EVA plates, tarpaulins or non-slip walkways to give your pets more stability.

Windows in tall apartments with pets

There’s not much to do, especially with cats: The ideal is to put screens. When you least expect it, the cat “climbs” anything and stops at the window. And you can’t even imagine that, can you? Even in houses or ground floor apartments this is the best way to not be surprised (o) with the disappearance of the kitten or dog.

Decorative objects

If you want to have or have a cat give up glass jars on tables, picture frames on furniture, in short, anything that can be knocked over or broken because it will happen. Even more with puppies, who are more energetic and do not stop quiet, loving to jump everywhere.

Toxic plants

There are a multitude of plants that are toxic to animals. And there are plants that cats like to eat and are good for them. See more about this in this post. You can also hang the plants so that they are inaccessible to pets.

Medicines, cleaning products and dumps

Be very careful with that. Keep away from access by cats and dogs. Don’t forget that cats climb furniture, okay?

Dumpsters should either be built into the kitchen cabinet or chosen so that they close tightly. Dog loves to poke, right?

Loose wiring around the house

It’s not pretty at all, but with pets it can be a big danger. Keep everything very tight, even the cable from that floor lamp can be a disaster.

I know you like them. So keep them safe and always comfortable, okay?

Current colors for kitchen cabinets

Current colors for kitchen cabinets

In 2020 I showed 30 current colors for small kitchen cabinets, so it is time to update the colors of the cabinets with the new launches and trends that appeared in the period, right? But there’s nothing much you like and want the colors of the previous post, ok?

These colors / patterns, in fact, like those of the previous post, are suitable for any kitchen size, as long as it is considered the harmony with the colors of floors, coverings and walls and the ilumination: The less naturally lit, the more interesting it is to honor lighter patterns so that the kitchen doesn’t look darker and more artificial lighting is needed to compensate.

Light tones:

  • News 2020 that follow the trend of granilite are the standards Cosmos gives Arauco and also the Fulgê gives Guararapes:

  • Launched in 2019 and which may appear more in kitchens is the salt pink . I think that alone (as below) or accompanied by white or more serious and “masculine” colors / patterns:

  • O Atenna follows the trend of imitation of noble stones in coverings. In this case, white marble with gray veins. A classic and elegant touch in the kitchen. Following the trend, Guararapes also launched the Quartz and several other patterns that mimic marbles.

Midtones:

  • O Cumaru, this year’s launch by Arauco and also by Duratex (Cumaru root), represents the native nature of Brazil, combining well with the various ashes, increasingly present in homes, as well as being easy to combine with different colors.

  • And a blue can never be missing. This, the Lord, it is the grayish tone that adds a touch of class to any kitchen.

In the patterns above you see several that match the Lord, in addition, of course, the whites and beiges, which give a very classic and elegant tone to the kitchens. I love it with light woods! I think it breaks the seriousness, gets younger, you know?

  • In the vibe of native Brazilian trees, the Ironwood, launched by Arauco in 2019, is strong, warm and has presence. It is one of the most beautiful patterns that imitate Arauco wood:

I hope this post will give you good ideas for your next renovation or construction of your kitchen. But I hope even more that you follow your taste, which is much more important, permanent and pleasurable than any trend. After all, trends are just that: Trends! And they come and go with interests that we can’t even imagine. But your home is your home. That sacred thing that you need to know to love and love for showing who you are!

Sweet And Soothing Pink And Blue Interiors

Sweet And Soothing Pink And Blue Interiors

Pink and blue interior designn has that wonderful mix of warm meets cool, sweetness meets soothing. It’s an emotional colour combo that feels like a happy hug. It is also a very youthful palette, so how does it translate into a more elegant modern interior? This collection of four pink and blue home interiors illustrate how to put together room designs that are not only vibrant and colourful, but have an air of refinement too. These homes are also all anchored at the smaller end of the residential scale, and so effectively illustrate just how much colour can be poured into tighter proportions without flooding the sense of space or calm.

Gentle pink meets peacock blue in this elegant modern living room. A set of botanical prints bring added accent tones to a misty grey wall, and also work to anchor the sofa in its central alignment.

An ottoman coffee table fits into the elbow of the L-shaped sofa design. A silver grey rug holds the arrangement together.

With the couch pulled forward from the windows, a spot opens up behind for a home workspace and a music area.

An upholstered bench takes the blue accent into the music corner. Pink panels colour the wall.

Wood slats are used throughout the interior to build added textural interest and to establish zoning.

A grey slatted panel marks out the home workspace, making it a small room within a room. A light oak effect desk matches with the lightness of the laminate floor. A comfortable grey desk chair is colour matched to the subtle wall shade.

More grey slats and a perpendicular full length mirror make a big feature of a small white entryway table.

A built-in entryway bench with shoe storage and custom closets fill the other side of the hallway. Grey and wood grain panels build a sleek mount for a set of stylish coat hooks.

Blue dining chairs set down a core colour in the small open plan of our second home tour.

A matching blue kitchen runs alongside the small dining table, under plain white wall units that lighten up the look.

The tiny white and blue kitchen makes up for lack of floor space by extending storage all the way to the ceiling line.

Sugary pink hallway decor forms a delicious colour clash with the neighbouring bright blue kitchen.

Pink pegboard panels decorate the walls of the hallway. An
entryway bench is finished in the same shade to achieve a fully saturated scheme.

Yellow exterior paint and coordinated modern outdoor chairs bring sunshine to the balcony even on rainy days.

A glass room divider shields the sofa from front door draughts, and forms a mini entryway to the bedroom.

Inside the bedroom, a pink and blue storage wall infuses the room with vibrant colour. A white KAWS figurine is given prime position inside a contrasting pink accent niche.

Another Star Wars themed Star Wars themed KAWS adorns one of the glossy grey bedside cabinets. A bespoke tufted headboard spans the set of bedroom furniture, uniting the bed and bedsides into one consolidated piece.

The cool grey and white bed set grounds the scheme and allows the stronger coloured pieces to shine.

A modern rustic vanity table complements the wood flooring.

A black vanity mirror ties in with the slender black framework of the dressing table. A low plant stand brings an indoor plant to the vanity ensemble.

The shower room/utility is located just off the home entryway.

Dusky pink paintwork drops a soothing muted tone over the small room. A neat bathroom vanity light illuminates not only the bathroom sink but the whole of the compact space.

Clean white tilework brightens the space.

We enter our third featured home tour via an elegant white kitchen design, and a small dining table encircled by powder pink chairs.

Gold accents bring luxe to the little living room, in the form of a gleaming sputnik chandelier, gold side tables and picture frames. A white console table adds a pop of white to a deep prussian blue wall.

Gold hardware makes the plain white kitchen into a refined culinary space.

A tall mirror breaks up the dark blue accent wall, which wraps around to cover the entry door into the bedroom too.

The headboard wall of the bedroom is painted with a colour blocked effect that visually widens the room. Blue glass bedroom pendant lights, blue wall art and matching bed accessories tease out the accent shade.

A plush blue and gold chair sits regally at the makeup table.

Stunning blue decorative floor tiles meet glossy white marble in the bathroom.

The wonderful tiles make a second appearance in the home entryway, where they’re reflected in full length closet mirrors. A built-in entryway bench and a glass panel work together to partially screen off the kitchen.

Our final pink and blue theme plays upon great expanses of white.

White marble backs a blue kitchen design, and tops a dining table surrounded by blue cushioned chairs. A copper faucet pops against the paleness.

Under cabinet lighting accentuates the luxe kitchen backsplash.

Bleached wood treads and risers cap an open sided staircase design that’s packed with storage beneath.

The staircase leads to a bright mezzanine living room.

The copper accent follows on upstairs in a modern pendant light and small small coffee table set.

The bedroom is out of this world with a cosmic moon mural and fabulous blue and copper marbled pillows. A celestial globe pendant light shines over each bedside.

Geometric pink panels make a tactile backdrop.
